Stop knots are used to hold sequins or beads in place on a hook snood,( i must admit that i use Telephone wire. because its easier to slip up and down the line)Particularly where a sequin and stop knot acts as bait stop to prevent your hook bait sliding up the line. They can also be used on a float rig to stop a bead that sets the depth you are fishing at. The beuty of this knot is that it can be moved by adding some saliva. Another bait stop is when a short piece of silicone rubber tubing is threaded on to the line, loop the line back through the tubing again and pull both ends tight. The stop knot using Power gum,is as follows, Hold the line tight and hold the gum against the mono with 75mm or so protruding, make four turns of powergum around the mono.then bring back the end of the gumto form a loop, Make four more turns inside the loop and pull up loosly. Moisten, pull up tightly but do not over tighten, then move to final position and trim ends.
