We use Clipped Rigs when we need to fish at distance, when we need to cast a bait/baits far out, The baits need protection from the cast itself and the water entry, this is wher Clipped rigs come into their element, keeping the bait tight against the rig and slimline, protected by the bait shield. Either using an Alpha bait clip or impact shield or simply Break-a-way lead they all work in basically the same way, it's just some are better than others or when a greater distance is required, it's just a matter of personal preference.
